Young Royals

They're glamorous, modern and admired throughout Spain. The Bourbons, as the Spanish royal family is known, enjoy a level of popularity -- and protection -- that other royals and celebrities would envy.
Spain's media focus in particular on the trials and tribulations of the younger royals. The union of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia produced three successors, Prince Felipe of Asturias, the Infanta Elena and Christina.
Dominating the publicity is the heir to the throne, Prince Felipe and his wife, Princess Letizia. They are the embodiment of what a modern royal couple should be -- young, active and photogenic. Both the prince and his wife have raised more than a little interest with their modest form of (dare we say it) sex appeal.
But there is still enough material for magazines to cover. Spaniards are avid followers of the royals and their latest goings-on, such as their official trips, which are important in fostering Spain's ties with other countries.
The Spanish royals have only been in a position of power for three decades, making them, for all their tradition and history in the country, a younger and more modern monarchy. The memory of banishment has never been far enough away for them to forget their duty or neglect to earn the affection of their people.
The balance between tradition and progress in a country that has been a fully functioning democracy for a relatively short time has not always been an easy one to straddle. But in the case of this couple with their young daughters, the perception of what is \\\"royal' and what is \\\"common\\\" in the country has become further blurred and, to an extent, less relevant.
But there are other clandestine relationships afoot. Sara deduces that one of her female classmates is in love with another girl, but the lovesick young woman is afraid to tell her would-be girlfriend her real feelings because it might ruin their friendship. Likewise, another student, Nisse, confides in Wilhelm that he is gay and maintains discretion in his relationships, encouraging Wilhelm to do the same.
Serving as Wilhelm's love interest, Simon (Omar Rudberg) is definitely a fan favorite character. Simon is a non-resident at the boarding school and, due to his lower-income background, doesn't fit in with the majority of the other students. He is one of the few on Young Royals who regularly points out the privilege that the students experience while the rest of the world struggles, part of what makes his character so beloved. Simon is a supportive friend, brother, and boyfriend, who is always there for those he cares about. His level of compassion is seldom seen in the rich royals of the elite school, another reason that he is considered one of the best characters on Young Royals. Speaking to Digital Spy, Rudberg shared his hopes for a happy ending for Simon and Wilhelm.
welcome to the underground, what lies beneath the surface. welcome to the search for the stars above, the brightness that shines through. welcome to the world of seeing through the glass, of reflection, of translation and identification, of fairy tales, of burials, of powerful melodies and the singing of hearts. welcome to revolution. welcome to young royals.
i spent a lot of time away from young royals. from the show, from this blog, and from the friends i made in the fandom. i disappeared without much explanation. i still thought about young royals often, wondering if i would ever come back.
young royals deserves a good conclusion. a conclusion that is planned, that suits the story, not one cobbled together because a corporation pulls the rug out from under it. better sooner than later, because this show never felt like it was going to run for a decade. lisa and the other writers always acted like they had a plan for a finite end. the question was not going to be about how it ended, but if it got to end in it's own time.
young royals did so many things that would have have doomed other shows sooner. there are the obvious subversions in the text of it, namely the queer representation and the critique of power structures that refuses to apologize or assimilate. others are more subtle, like how the characters do not speak in english. the presence of a dub track and english subtitle translation is evidence of the awareness that non-english dramas have uphill battles to perform well particularly in american markets.
on a platform that is more likely to cancel with every season released, i wouldn't blame the writers for hedging their bets on renewal. to leave the endings of each season on a natural break in the story then serves two purposes. if netflix turned on young royals, the show could have some finality. if it was renewed, it could hold us over until the next chapter.
the hydra roars, and it is a great labor to defeat it by working together to cauterize the wound. i'm glad that the creators can choose how this story ends. one last season they control, not stretched out for too long or cut too short. this is a story about a young love that is threatened by the watchful world, and all they ask for is it to live safe on their terms. that's what i wanted for young royals: the story on its own terms. with the announcement that the third season is planned as the end, vi går skilda vägar när det är slut. the question has an answer, and young royals will endure for all of us.
young royals being set up to have a 3-season run from the very start and fulfilling that plan with already a clear vision of how it's going to end ... we are so lucky, actually. it won't have a chance to go downhill AND it will have an intentional and proper ending. WILMON ENDGAME SOON.
Young Royals follows the young Prince Wilhelm of Sweden (Ryding) who attends Hillerska boarding school. There he meets Simon Eriksson (Rudberg), a fellow student at the school on a scholarship, and falls in love with him. 59ce067264
